Roofing Performance
Leakage usually starts at the fixing point
In PEB roofing, leakage commonly starts where the fastener meets the sheet. If the washer does not seat properly, if the cap is missing, or if the screw is installed at the wrong angle, water can find a path into the assembly. That is why leak prevention has to be treated as a system-level issue rather than a single-product fix.
The practical answer begins with correct component selection. A proper washer helps the fastener spread load and maintain the seal at the roof profile. A screw cap can improve the finish and reduce direct exposure at the head. When these components are paired with correct installation, the roof performs more predictably over time.
What to check on site
- Confirm screw alignment and torque consistency
- Inspect washer condition and seating quality
- Check whether the roof profile needs a hillside washer
- Use matching fastener accessories across the project
Where products help
Our hillside washer page explains how load distribution and roof profile contact affect sealing performance. For exposed fixing points, see our SDS screw caps page for a product designed to improve weather protection and finish quality.
When a project uses a standing seam system, the aluminium seam clamp assembly can also support non-penetrative roof mounting where suitable.
